Introduction
Email reports enable all users with access to the Site Kit dashboard to opt in to receive reports containing site performance metrics on a weekly, monthly, or quarterly basis.
Managing your subscription
Email reports are available by default in Site Kit. The email reports subscription panel can be accessed via your Google account menu.
To open the email reports subscription panel:
- Open the Google account menu by clicking on your avatar at the top right of the Site Kit dashboard. If you are viewing from a view-only dashboard, this will be under the View only text.
- Click Manage email reports.
The panel includes:
- WordPress user email: This displays your WordPress user email that will receive these email reports
- Frequency: The frequency in which these email reports are sent which can be configured to:
- Weekly: Last 7 days and sent on your selected Week Starts On (Settings > General) day
- Monthly: First to the last day of the previous month
- Quarterly: First to the last day of each quarter
- Invite others to subscribe*: This section is available to admin users only allows for inviting other eligible users to subscribe to email reports
Subscribing
In the email reports subscription panel, select your desired report frequency and click Subscribe. You can change the frequency at any time and only applies to your own subscription.
After subscribing, a confirmation email will be sent to the WordPress user email address shown. If the confirmation email does not appear in your inbox, please check your spam folder. If you’re still having trouble, see Troubleshooting email deliverability.
Unsubscribing
In the email reports subscription panel, click Unsubscribe.
You can always unsubscribe from email reports by using the Manage subscription link found in the footer of an email report.
Inviting users to email reports
In the email reports subscription panel, admins have the added ability to invite others to subscribe.
Eligible users, listed at the bottom of the panel, include:
- Administrators who have direct access to the Site Kit dashboard
- Users who have access to the Site Kit dashboard through dashboard sharing
If a user does not appear in the list, you can search for them by name or email address using the search field. In all cases, only users who are eligible to invite are shown in the list.
Invited users will receive an email with instructions to accept the invitation and subscribe.
Troubleshooting email sending issues
If you’re not receiving email reports, check your spam or junk folder first. See Email deliverability issues.
Email sending errors
WordPress can be set up to send email in many ways. By default, WordPress will attempt to send from the same server it is hosted on but may also be configured to use another server or service using a plugin.
Errors raised while sending Site Kit emails will be captured and retried later. If retries fail, these errors will be surfaced to admins in the Site Kit dashboard to raise awareness.
For help with these errors, please contact your host or system administrator.
Email deliverability issues
If emails are not reaching the inbox, they may be in your spam or junk folder.
Site Kit sends its emails directly from WordPress, so all your data stays with you, but sometimes this can lead to emails being marked as spam. This problem is not unique to Site Kit and can affect all email sent from WordPress for various reasons.
If you need help, please contact your host or system administrator.

Insufficient module permissions
If email reports contain insufficient permissions errors, such errors are related to a user’s Analytics, AdSense and/or Search Console access permissions.
You can find out more about insufficient permissions errors and how to resolve them by checking our troubleshooting guides below:

- Search Console insufficient permissions
- AdSense insufficient permissions
Data loaing issues
Data loading issues can occur for a number of reasons and can be related to Site Kit module setup and settings, Google account, Google service, hosting provider and server configuration.
These issues may be intermittent or an isolated incident. You should check your Search Console and Analytics module settings (Site Kit > Settings > Connected Services) in Site Kit to ensure everything is configured correctly as you may still have some settings to configure.
Check you have access to the required account and properties associated with the connected Search Console and Analytics modules via your Google account.
You can also check with your hosting provider that there aren’t any host/server configurations that could be blocking Site Kit specific requests for data.
Cron errors
Site Kit sends emails using a WordPress system called WP Cron. This is a system that allows Site Kit to run background tasks at a certain time. Email reporting requires the email sending task to run at the intervals selected and can take some time to run as it gets report data from Google APIs and sends them.
This system could be set up in a way that prevents Site Kit email reporting tasks from starting or completing. This is most commonly due to hosting and server configurations. If the issue is related to a Cron/Scheduler issue, you’ll see a message explaining that this is likely due to a WP Cron configuration error in your WordPress site’s system settings.
If you see this message or suspect that email reports are not being sent due to a cron problem, reach out to your hosting provider for further assistance.
Server errors
If Site Kit detects a server error when sending emails, it will notify you of this. This may be due to a block on requests to the API causing a permanent server error until resolved. For any server related issues, contact your hosting provider for further assistance.
If you have followed the advice above for your issue and continue to not receive email reports, open a support topic at the Site Kit forum for more assistance.
Disabling email reports
If you would like to disable email reports for all users, you can do this from Site Kit > Settings > Admin Settings > Email reports. Switch off the Enable email reports toggle which will disable this feature. You can enable email reports again at any time.
