If you’re having issues while setting up Site Kit, try the following troubleshooting tips.

  • Update to the latest version of Site Kit: Go to the plugins section of your website and check if there are any updates available. If updates are available, click Update Now.
  • Check your site settings: In your WordPress dashboard, go to Settings > General. Verify that the domain part of the Site Address (URL) matches the WordPress Address (URL). If you have an HTTPS website, make sure that both URLs have an HTTPS prefix.
  • Deactivate potential conflicting plugins: To limit any potential conflicts with other plugins, temporarily deactivate other potential conflicting plugins one by one before attempting to reinstall and activate Site Kit. We recommend deactivating security, firewall, optimization and caching plugins. You can reactivate the plugins after you’ve successfully installed Site Kit.
  • Switch your active WordPress theme: To avoid potential conflicts with your theme, switch your theme temporarily, preferably to a default WordPress theme such as Twenty Nineteen
  • Temporarily disable any potential security/ad blocker or firewall software: Before you set up Site Kit, temporarily disable software such as firewall or security applications running on your computer or your web hosting provider. After you successfully set up Site Kit, you can enable the security, ad blocker, or firewall software. For more information, check the known limitations
  • Install Site Kit with an incognito window: This ensures that any browser extensions and ad blockers are disabled. It also ensures a clean cache and cookies are turned off during the setup process.
  • Use a different computer to set up Site Kit: Sometimes local software, applications, or settings can impact Site Kit installation.
  • Ensure that your environment fulfill all minimum requirements: Site Kit requires a minimum PHP version or 5.4 and WordPress version 4.7 or later.
