Having trouble with anything? Try the troubleshooting tips before you post in the support forum.

If you’re having issues while setting up Site Kit, try the following troubleshooting tips.

  • Update to the latest version of Site Kit: Go to the plugins section of your website and check if there are any updates available. If updates are available, click Update Now.
  • Check your site settings: In your WordPress dashboard, go to Settings > General. Verify that the WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) values match. If you have an HTTPS website, make sure that both URLs have an HTTPS prefix.
  • Deactivate potential conflicting plugins: To limit any potential conflicts with other plugins, temporarily deactivate other potential conflicting plugins one by one before attempting to reinstall and activate Site Kit. We recommend deactivating security, firewall, optimization and caching plugins. You can reactivate the plugins after you’ve successfully installed Site Kit.
  • Switch your active WordPress theme: To avoid potential conflicts with your theme, switch your theme temporarily, preferably to a default WordPress theme such as Twenty Nineteen
  • Disable any potential security/ad blocker or firewall software: Disable software such as firewall or security applications running on your computer or your web hosting provider. For more information, check the known limitations
  • Install Site Kit with an incognito window: This ensures that any browser extensions and ad blockers are disabled. It also ensures a clean cache and cookies are turned off during the setup process.
  • Use a different computer to set up Site Kit: Sometimes local software, applications, or settings can impact Site Kit installation.
  • Ensure that your environment fulfill all minimum requirements: Site Kit requires a minimum PHP version or 5.4 and WordPress version 4.7 or later.

If you’re still encountering issues, check existing support topics. If you don’t see your issue listed, open a new issue on Github with the relevant information related to your issue.
